"Beautiful, Clean and Warm"
Date: Sep 24, 2006
Reviewer: VacationQueene, Northern Virginia
We typically travel to Boothbay and say outside of town with our family. This time it was just my husband and I and we wanted to stay in a B & B for our anniversary. After a LOT of research we decided on the Blue Heron. Having never stayed in a B & B I was a little apprehensive. My apprehension disappeared as soon as we pulled in and I saw the GORGEOUS flowers, met with Laura who was very gracious. The rooms (we saw a few - for a future trip) are clean, warm, well lit, and spacious. I think Laura has thought of every little detail that can be thought of. Detail is her specialty. We met Phil in the morning - what a delight - he knows the area - is a wealth of information and a joy to talk with. We looked forward to eating breakfast each day - partly to talk with him, partly to talk with the other guests but most of all - his breakfasts! Everything was prepared perfectly and it was hot! I can't stand eating warm food - this was cooked perfectly. What a great way to start each morning. It was a joy each day to open our door - the first thing I saw was a GORGEOUS overflowing flower stand - and then the view of the harbor. They are in a perfect location - we walked to everything. We will definitely be back - once you stay here you don't need to look any further. They've done their homework - everything is perfect. Don't bother looking any further - it doesn't get any better than this.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Inn, in the most perfect setting. Phil and Laura made us so welcome, she made beautiful tea in Wedgewood china, the best tea we had on our trip. The rooms were idyllic, the scenery amazing, the breakfast delicious, we did not want to leave. Maybe one day we will return.

Blue Heron is in a great location - very central and within walking distance of shops etc. Rooms were more on the modern side and very clean. Breakfast was very good - many people took coffee & pastires up to their rooms first before coming down for the cooked breakfast. Hosts were very knowledgable about the area and went out of their way to help us with area information & activities. Would definitely recommend it!

Comfortability is THE major consideration when traveling. If you are content with your accomodations then anything that occurs outside of those surroundings is an added benefit. The Blue Heron is the place you need to go. Comfortable, beautiful, and very congenial proprietors. Phil and Laura go out of their way in every way. This B & B is absolutely georgeous inside and out. Beautiful views of the harbor. Great tasting and tummy stuffing breakfasts. If treasure is to be found at Boothbay, then I became a rich man when I stayed here.

This place is a delight... Very clean, comfortable. We stayed on the 3rd floor overlooking the harbor and the room was spotless with an awesome view. I especially liked the extended balcony that they have on all 3 floors with outdoor seating. Breakfast on our morning was by Phil- it was excellent. Talk about a friendly helpful host, you won't find a better innkeeper than Phil. Obviously this is a couple who care about their property and clients. The entire Inn is immaculate inside and out. Excellent location as it's an easy walking distance into town for eats and shopping. We loved the place. Boothbay also impressed me as a town that's definitely gotten more attractive over the past decade. I liked the downtown core and we all felt it was a place we could have spent more time in.

Phil and Laura were very helpful in sending us to places that were beautiful and to dinning that was excellent. We will return again and again.

When we had the choice to return this year for a short revisit, my wife chose the Blue Heron. It seems a little bit more "homey", more "plop-yorself-in a chair" comfortable, if there is such a category. We could go back every year until the end of time, really.

My Fiance and I attended a wedding at another resort in Boothbay Harbor and decided to stay at a B & B instead of a large resort because we wanted more personal service since we not been to the area before. We could not have been happier at the Blue Heron Inn. Phil and Laura were very accomodating and took time out of every morning to ensure that we knew exactly where to go to satisfy our particular taste. The location is perfect, only about a two minute walk from the center of town but far enough down the street to have it quiet
every night. The rooms were immaculate and had a perfect New Hampshire decor. If we are ever in the area again, this is the only place we will consider, the Inn is beautiful!

We were looking for a nice, convenient place to stay in Boothbay Harbor for my husband and I and our 16 year old daughter. Phil and Laura were wonderful (Phil cooks a fine breakfast!), the 2 room suite we had was great. The location puts you on the water with a great view of the harbor and easy walking to everything.

Room is pleasant with comfortable seating for reading and good lighting. Very clean. Hostess and hostess on site are welcoming, friendly, and eager to share information on the area. Cooked to order breakfasts are excellent.

This is our third visit to the Blue Heron Seaside Inn to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to our large, elegantly appointed room, with the private deck, and peaceful waterviews. The lights of the harbor twinkle across the water at night, and in the morning we awake to the smell of brewing coffee and homemade bread. We always enjoy Phil's hot breakfasts, and the friendly conversation. This year we had "Admiral's Rest" with the feather-top four poster bed. All the rooms are unique and comfortable. And if you enjoy kayaking, you can use the free kayaks right from the dock here. Blue Heron is a special anniversary getaway place.

Reviewer: A TripAdvisor member, Falmouth, ME
My wife and I wanted a quiet weekend at a comfortable, convenient, and dependable inn. The Blue Heron delivered on all fronts! The rooms are totally updated and impeccable. The decor is a combination modern, antique and oriental. While that sounds like a handful, the elements are combined in an exquisite fashion. For example, the furniture is both antique and oriental but the bathroom and appliances (refrigerator, etc.) are modern and updated. The inn is close to town and within walking distance of just about everything. In the mornings Phil will cook you a great breakfast but if you want a light breakfast, cereal, yougurt and bagels are available in a convenient location. You can get a cup of coffee and bring it up to your room and leisurely drink it on the balconey that overlooks the harbor.

"B & B Man Loves Blue Heron"

We've stayed in B & Bs all over the world and are not easily impressed. Recently stayed at the Blue Heron to do a film shoot on the HMS Bounty. Phil & Laura could not have been any more gracious hosts. Their genuine interest in ensuring our stay was both relaxing and productive went well beyond mere hosting. They cared about every aspect of our dining, visiting and work-related needs. They offered to assist in any and every manner possible. The Inn itself relfects its conscientious owners: immaculate, pristene and every attention to detail carefully considered and addressed. Location: The Blue Heron is perfectly situated within walking distance of the town, offers impressive waterfront views and yet is peaceful and quiet. If ever two people were meant to be perfect hosts of a B & B, Phil and Laura win the Academy Award. Our only problem is figuring out how soon we can return.

Phil and Laura, the owners of this delightful bed and breakfast in Boothbay Harbor, ME, couldn't make you feel more at home. They are excellent hosts, providing relaxing, comfortable, and extremely clean accomodations. Every room has a superb view of Boothbay's waterfront, and even the smallest room (the one that we stayed in) was spacious. There is also a lovely yard in back with a loveseat swing, chairs, and a walkway down to the dock. Be sure to ask for Phil's "Vickery French Toast" with wild Maine blueberries!

We stayed here in November of 2005 and had excellent weather! The temperature was in the 50s and the sun was shining most of the time. Our trip was aided by the hospitality, advice and warmth of innkeepers Laura and Phil, who went out of their way to our comfort and to ensure that we saw great things and had an excellent time in town. The inn has an excellent view of the Harbor, which is beautiful at all times of day. Furthermore, their dock provides a nice place to sit and relax. I found myself out there both days with my morning coffee, not wanting to ever leave. This is a great place and we will definitely return in the future.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Blue Heron Inn. The suite was spacious and comfortable, with a very nice view of the harbor. There are numerous restaurants and shops well within walking distance, and it was easy to fill up 4 days with things to do. Laura and Phil are wonderful hosts, with lots of suggestions on where to go and things to do while we explored the little towns nearby and visitied lighthouses. The morning breakfast was much more of a meal than the usual pastries we have typically gotten at other inns. All in all a very good experience and we look forward to a return visit!

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Heron for our honeymoon. We found the Inn online and we were impressed by their great website. The Blue Heron was everything and more than we expected. The room, Harbor Lights, was wonderful. It was large and exceptionally clean. The entire Inn was beautiful and the flowers out front were amazing and so was the view. Boothbay was a great little New England town and was exactly what we were looking for. I would highly suggest, thanks to Phil, the Thistle Inn for dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful and so was the food. My husband and I plan on returning to the Blue Heron!!

Reviewer: A TripAdvisor Member, Colorado
Even though the weather was foggy and rainy, we were immediately warmed by the welcome hospitality of the Inn's host, Laura. Our family had both rooms on the second floor. Thus we had a wonderful balcony all to ourselves. We quickly felt warm and cozy in our very large room, as we turned on the electric fireplace, and heated water for tea. Our room decor was Colonial, with added Oriental pieces. It was delightful. We had a very comfortable King Size bed, a sofa, table/chairs, microwave, frig, etc... We could not want for more. The breakfasts were very good and filling. The hosts, Phil (a former Marine who traded stories with my retired Marine hubby) and Laura were very helpful. Parking out back was easy. For us oldsters though, it was a little treacherous going up and down the back staircase which were unlit at night. We could walk to all the area shops and restaurants. We highly recommend the Blue Heron Seaside Inn and hope we can return again next year.

The location was great, very close to all the shops and restaurants (all within walking distance). The place was impeccably clean. We really loved the way the towels and the sheets smelled. They smelled so clean and fresh. Call us crazy but that really stood out to us. The flowers on the front of the house were just gorgeous. Phil was very kind and helpful. Save yourself a ton of research and take our advice and stay at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn. That really says it all but if you want additional detail..........here goes............. Laura & Phil Chapman, proprietors / innkeepers make you feel at home while spoiling you with their home and B & B Inn expertise. They are a never ending encyclopiedia full of knowledge of Boothbay Harbor & vicinity (Phil and his wife, Laura are originally from Boothbay Harbor.) If you are looking for something in particular, you only have to ask them and they will point you in the right direction. Their comfortable home is so beautiful that you definitely will hate to leave. The landscaping and flower boxes are a direct reflection of Laura's talent and hard work. We spent ten most enjoyable days at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn....a couple of them were spent just relaxing at The Inn...we didn't go anywhere........just stayed at the Inn. They have a relaxing grassy seating area by the harbor.................a comfortable lawn swing that makes resting a reality and I must say that their home provides a breathtaking view of the harbor as far as the eye can see. Actually that alone is what drew us to the Blue Heron Seaside Inn............THE VIEW from the Inn.............it is an uninterrupted view. Bring your camera!! or you will definitely be like us:.........we forgot our camera at home and after seeing the Inn and the view.....we ran to the store to purchase one. We just couldn't miss bringing home pictures of our vacation so that we could brag about where we stayed on our Maine vacation.

We just returned from one of the most relaxing and refreshing vacations that we have ever taken. Boothbay Harbor is a quaint fishing town located half way up the rocky coast of Maine. We stayed at a newly renovated bed & breakfast called the Blue Heron Seaside Inn. It is located near the inward part of the harbor on the waterfront. A blue heron was actually feeding on fish during a duration of low tide. The inn is located in town with easy access to local restaurants and activities. We had the opportunity to attend an early evening concert that was performed by the local community band. The owners of the inn, Phil & Laura Chapman also provided excellent recommendations for local activites from touring a coastal lighthouse, senic harbor and surrounding area cruises, to a breath taking sunset at Ocean Point. My wife and I would heartily recommend a stay at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn at Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

The Blue Heron Seaside Inn is an absolute must if you want an elegant Maine harborside experience!
Boothbay Harbor is my favorite stop along the coast of Maine. In an unscheduled visit to Boothbay, I was fortunate to stop at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn B&B to inquire about a room for a night. What an amazing stay...this home is newly restored and the craftsmanship is extraordinary for a B & B. Every room is wonderfully appointed with furniture from all over the world. Best of all, every room has an amazingly unobstructed view of Boothbay Harbor. The views from the first floor are as expansive as those on the second and third although the height gives you more of the "birds eye" view!
Laura and Phil are the owners and hosts. They are friendly and know the area well. If you are planning to go to Boothbay, I highly recommend this B&B. Staying at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn you will be conveniently located within one block of the quaint art galleries and unique craft and gift stores. Kayak rentals, boating, and restaurants are less than a 5 minute walk and you can see many of these businesses from the deck outside your room. Be sure to frequent the new Coffee and Wine Bar next door...the cheese plate and chocolate dessert fondue are to die for! This is a great place to go for dessert after having that favorite seafood dinner on the wharf.
Oh yes, Phil makes "Vickery French Toast" on Saturday mornings so plan to stay at least until then! It is amazingly good. I am certain that this will become one of the signature events at the Blue Heron! I can't wait to return with my family for no less than three nights next summer.

We just returned to Seattle from a carefully planned first trip to the Maine coastal cities of Boothbay Harbor, Camden, and Bar Harbor. Although every aspect of the trip was good, there is always something that will stand out as the best, and that was our stay at the Blue Heron. This Inn is everything you see on the website and more, and we were certainly pleased with our choice. The building is impeccably restored, located on the harbor with a lovely rear lawn, and personal dock, and has a great view right down the harbor to town. You will be mere minutes from the city, as well as from great restaurants and shopping.
We had room 6, the top floor corner, which had a large patio, chairs and table, and settee on the deck. Our room was beautiful and spacious, the bed very firm and comfortable, and the bath large. Our room had a remote control fireplace, fridge and microwave, and all the little niceties that took a great deal of thought. Tissues by the bed, hand painted wine glasses, quality sheets - all the little unexpected things that make a room special.
The owners - Phil and Laurie Chapman - were especially gracious, and provided a lovely breakfast each morning. The Inn is filled with interesting antiques, collected from the owners many years of travel abroad and the English china used for breakfast was a real treat. Every detail has been considered for the comfort and pleasure of the guests. We will definitely try to get back to the charming town of Boothbay Harbor, the Blue Heron, and to revisit the Chapmans

What a wonderful week we had at Laura & Phil's Inn! We were made to feel right at home and our room was just lovely. The Inn is right in town and convenient to everything and the view is teriffic. Laura & Phil were so helpful in giving us information on all the local activities and goings-on and the best restaurants! We will be back, hopefully, sooner rather than later. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

My sister and I were looking for a clean, picturesque, and quiet place to spend a relaxing 2 days on our way up the Maine coast. What we got at the Blue Heron Seaside Inn was much more. Phil and Laura were very helpful and friendly. They made us feel right at home. Laura was even kind enough to make a special breakfast item at my sister's request. Our room was on the top floor with a nautical theme...Beautiful!!!! The Inn was just completely redone...so everything is new....and clean!!!! Our balcony had such a great view of the harbor. I definately recommend you stay here...it makes a great memory.

The Blue Heron Inn was a terrific place to stay. The view from our room and the proximity to town was a definite plus. Phil and Laurie were attentive to our every need and helpful in advising places to see, things to do, and places to eat. Our room was large, very clean and beautifully furnished as was the rest of the Inn. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend the Inn to our friends. (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. We have stayed in B&B's from Europe to Carmel, CA. The Blue Heron was an excetional find for us. Phil and Laurie made us feel as if we were staying with friends. Phil even offered to take me fishing. The 1800's Victorian is a gem top to bottom, large rooms, all with a great view, and central to everything in Boothbay. The Chapman's are natives to Boothbay. We had the two bedroom suite for four. We will return. PS- do the Cabbage Island clam bake!!! -------------- (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. All rights reserved.)

My wife and I have been going to the Boothbay Harbor Region on romantic get aways for 30 years. This year we tried a new Inn called Blue Heron Seaside Inn. A good name because we saw blue herons right outside our room's beautiful veiw of the harbor. Phil and his lovely wife Laurie have opened their lives in this meticulously run Inn. We felt welcome and at home with our hosts. The rooms are filled with antiques from their long stays in Korea and England. The Inn is as clean as any 5 star hotel, with extraordinary attention to details. Absolutely charming and elegant! With the natural beauty of the harbor, and the great resturants, this frist class Inn is destined to became another jewel in the Harbor's crown. It has now jumped to the top of our list of places to stay next time we visit. Lonn & Pauline (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. All rights reserved.)

The Blue Heron Seaside Inn was meticulously clean and decorated beautifully. We were on the 1st floor and still had a great view and our own private access to a deck that overlooked the harbor. Our hosts, the Chapmans, were delightful people who were more than happy to answer any questions we had about the area. The continental breakfast was more than we expected. All in all, our stay there was wonderful and we can't wait to go back in the fall. (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. All rights reserved.)

"Perfect B&B Stay in Boothbay Harbor"

My family and I have been to Maine many times but this was our first visit to Boothbay Harbor. The Blue Heron Seaside Inn was the finest B&B we have been to in Maine. We had taken one of our children, and when we arrived, Laura and Phil immediately upgraded us to the third floor two bedroom suite, without our asking, because they thought we would be more comfortable. The room was beautifully appointed, the king sized beds very comfortable, and the room was equipped with refrigerator, microwave, and two tv's, not to mention the wonderful view from the comfortable patio furniture overlooking the harbor. We also had a chance to see some of the other rooms, most having king sized beds, and also beautifully appointed, which we would find very comfortable, on our next visit to Boothbay Harbor. I had done a lot of research on B&B's in the Boothbay Harbor region utilizing Trip Advisor as one of my main sources, and found this place to be ideal, with the proprietors, the location, the view, the breakfast, and mainly the comfort, while away from home, being outstanding. A first class B&B, in a great location, just a short walk to "downtown" Boothbay Harbor. Our 2nd floor room (#3) was large, well appointed, and very attractive. Innkeepers Phil and Laura are very friendly and helpful, with good advice regarding tourist attractions and local restaurants. We plan on returning soon. (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. What a refreshing and enjoyable experience! My wife and I frequently travel to Maine. The variety of lodging experience has been fair to excellent. The Blue Heron Seaside Inn rates an excellent. Beautifully appointed rooms with great harbor views located a two minute walk to the center of town with ample parking and surprising quiet are all pluses to us!! The innkeepers are attentive yet unobtrusive. They are both native to the area, have world-travel experience (just look at the antiques adorning the inn), and are committed to making your stay "the way you'd like it"!! Give it a try--you will not be disappointed. (© 2004 TripAdvisor, Inc. All rights reserved.)
"Blue Heron Seaside Inn is First Rate"

My husband and I personally looked in on several hotels and inns in Boothbay Harbor before settling on the Blue Heron Seaside Inn - so we can tell you with certainty that it is a truly exceptional B&B! The Inn, and the rooms are uniquely and beautifully decorated -- and in such PRISTINE condition -- that we were sure that we were the first ones in. Later we learned that Laura and Phil have been doing business from this wonderful waterfront location (built in the 1800's), for some time. They are wonderful people, with unusually high standards -- and have incorporated many thoughtful features into each room, to make your stay more comfortable. The Blue Heron Inn is light and airy, and absolutely spotless. We knew from the moment we walked past the beautiful garden and in the front door that we were "home." A top B&B!
